The UK has been battling an increasing number of BTV-3 cases over the last few months with over 200 confirmed cases now. The recent detection of cases in Dorset has meant that the restriction zone now reaches into East Devon.
Bluetongue virus is spread by midges which would normally be at very low levels over winter but with Spring approaching midge numbers will rise and with it infection levels are also expected to increase.
There are now three vaccines we are permitted to use, although not licensed in the UK .
We are holding a meeting on Friday 28th February at 7pm at Moreleigh Village Hall on Bluetongue Virus and your options for protecting your flock or herd. Please call us on 01548 853322 Option 2 to book your place.
